The Penguins aren’t playing great hockey right now. Far from it. But they have won three in a row. On P.O Joseph’s wonderful debut, Tristan Jarry rising to the occasion, 58+ 8 = a mess at the moment, plus much more:

Nice game for Jarry. Only one of the three goals was bad (the third one.) Stopped 31 of 34. Step in the right direction.

Quite an accomplishment by the Penguins to get at least a point. Not a very good performance. Glaring turnovers from their best players all night. Again.

Just a terrible giveaway from Dumoulin there. He doesn’t look himself at all.

Those who know Tristan Jarry best believe he will be a star at the NHL level. After a rocky start to the season, he’s back in net tonight. Here are some reasons for confidence in Jarry:

Three defensemen are out of the lineup after four games. GMJR already knew an early trade was a possibility. Might be necessary sooner rather than later now. Here’s what he had to say:

 18  4  3

The Penguins are now without their No. 4, No. 5 and No. 7/8 defensemen.

• Matheson is out “longer term”
• Pettersson is out “week to week”
• Riikola is out “longer term”

What does it mean? Hello, PO Joseph. And Letang and Dumoulin must play a huge amount of minutes.

Mike Sullivan says that Marcus Pettersson is out “week to week” and Juuso Riikola is out “longer term.”

Replying to @TheAthleticPGH: Jim Rutherford wants to be patient with Penguins trades. He knows that might be impossible in a short season.

If the Penguins struggle during the next few weeks, GMJR might look to make a move even though he prefers being patient early in seasons. This isn’t a normal season. Here’s what he had to say:

 16  5  2

GMJR usually likes to give his team 20 games before he determines if a significant move may be needed. Given the schedule this season, he may not have that kind of time. Here’s what he said about it:
