Clark was convicted following a 5 week trial of swindling investors in Key West out of $300 million. He hid assets off shore & was prosecuted in 2016 after Panama expelled him, so really, nothing in his profile just screams out, candidate for clemency.

The DOJ Pardon Atty’s website shows Trump’s last grant of clemency (conviction stands, sentence ended) was on Jan. 13 for a Florida bank fraud defendant named Fred Clark. Hard to imagine we won’t see Trump handing them out like indulgences on his way out the door.

Lindsey Graham on Fox warns GOP against convicting Trump. “It would destroy our party ... impeaching him after he leaves office would be disastrous for our country and our party.”

Respectfully, after living through the last four years, I’m not sure the destruction of the Republican party would be bad for the country.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from the Birmingham Jail

Nothing about Trump’s exercise of the pardon power reflects a desire to do justice. Instead, he revels in the exercise of pure presidential power. So it should comes as no surprise to see some wild abuses on his way out the door.

Three days to Inauguration... (feat. Wally)

Trump invoked non-existent American carnage in his inaugural address & summoned it into existence by the end of his presidency.

Is everyone fine with paying millions of dollars annually in pension, office, staff and other expenses for an ex-President who may still be plotting to take down our democracy?

Senate can stop this by convicting.

.@RepKatiePorter's leadership is invaluable wherever she sits in Congress, but it's really a huge loss if she leaves Financial Services.

JUST IN: Louisiana resident Cody Connell charged w assault of cops in Capitol riot. Also was allegedly seeking to purchase weapons to return for inauguration and said only way he was coming home was 'in a body bag.' Doc:

This public safety tranche of prosecutions is important -it incapacitates dangerous people. But it cannot come at the expense of a prompt focus on people responsible for organizing, leading & funding the insurrection. We’ve heard nothing on that from AG/FBI Director.

Graham says of Biden: “If you don’t stand up against the impeachment of Donald Trump after he leaves office, you’re an incredibly weak figure in American history. President Trump is trying to heal the nation.” (Unclear how Trump is trying to do that). It’s “insane at every level”

Anytime Lindsey Graham says anything, it should be caveated with a reminder that when Graham was running against Trump he acknowledged that electing him would destroy us. Or better yet, just stop listening to him.

"It's not just something we say: no man is above the law. If there were people in Congress who aided and abetted this incursion into the Capitol, then they need to be fully investigated."

The first time President Obama met with his US Attorneys, he told us, “I appointed you but you don’t serve me. You serve the American people. And I expect you to act with independence & integrity.” None of us ever forgot that.
